Every day is like a holiday when you spend it with cool people and great salsa music.   Next weekend, Baltimore Salsa Meetup has you covered.  On Friday night, we're headed to the second floor of Alonso's to learn some smooth moves from Dwight at our private Salsa party.  On Saturday night, SalsaNow is inviting everyone to Meetup for Salsa "Au Naturel" at the Irvine Nature Center.   Get the best of both worlds enjoying the beautiful weather and sizzling music.  They always come up with the most amazing places to dance.  Once again - on Tuesday night, Tabitha is throwing a free Salsa social at her new studio in Federal Hill - Free + BYOB = Are we there yet?  Did you miss the kick-off party at DNAStudio? No worries, you can catch Jesus at Sammy's on Wednesday as the guest instructor.   Per Gary Elter, there's a Puerto Rican party at La Fontaine Bleu in Glen Burnie on Saturday.  This is more casual than the November event. Or, if you are willing to make the hike, Eddie Santiago plays live at The Salsa Room in Virginia.  One more update - 3rd Saturdays at Stageworkz are cancelled, however, 1st Saturdays at DNAStudio will continue.

Salsa "Au Naturel" at Irvine Nature Center
We're going "Au Naturel" at the Irvine Nature Center. Come dressed to celebrate nature - think florals, greens, browns, natural fibers, organic materials - whatever inspires you and raises your eco-consciousness. Take in beautiful views from our private event space furnished with large dance floors just for the occasion.
At 7:00 PM, two of DC's brightest stars, Eileen Torres and Earl Rush, will make you shine with either a Ladies or Mens Footwork lesson. There will also be a Beginner Salsa lesson taught by SalsaNow. Afterward, let nature take its course as you dance to primal Salsa rhythms played by no other than DJ Neo from Washington DC. Cover is $10. This is a BYOB event, so if you'd like an adult beverage, feel free to bring your own.
The Irvine Nature Center is located at 11201 Garrison Forest Road, Owings Mills, MD 21117, across the street from the new Jemicy Upper School campus (formerly Ruxton Country School). Set amid 116 acres of gorgeous woodlands, wetlands and meadows, the Irvine Nature Center is Maryland's premiere environmental education facility.

Wednesday, August 4, 2010 Eighth Annual Tribute To Women in Salsa at Zanzibar on the Waterfront
Mark your calendars and plan to attend the Tribute to Women in Salsa. It takes place on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at Zanzibar on the Waterfront located at 700 Water St. SW; Washington, DC 20024. Grace Badillo of Dancing With Grace Productions will be honored and will be the special guest dance instructor that night. Eight women’s teams will perform. Confirmed Dance Teams: Baltimore Salsa Nation, Columbia Dance Project, Dance In Time, Kim Yates & Friends, Salsa Fuego and Salsa Vive WPFW 89.3 FM Latin Flavor Hostess, Nancy Alonso and DJ Elvira will provide entertainment. You must be 21 with valid identification to enter. Suggested Dress Code: Dress to Impress. Cover $10. Doors open at 6:00pm. Dance Lesson at 7:00 pm dancing begins at 8:00 pm with the awards ceremony and dance show beginning at 9 :00 pm. Dancing continues after the show until 1:00 am.
EileenTorres, a Washington, DC Salsa promoter, historian, events producer and instructor began the salsa tributes in 2002 to recognize individuals who have assisted in developing the salsa scene. The awardees are honored for their contributions to building a vibrant salsa community.
