Ladies, are you paying close attention to all the areas of your body exposed while Salsa dancing? When I started salsa dancing, I had to modify my grooming habits. I could no longer let an extra day go by without shaving my legs. When I wore a skirt at work, no one got close enough to see if I skipped a day. But, at the clubs, I have many opportunities to sit or stand next to others who can easily see the pricks of hair poking through my pantyhose. I make sure to shave much more frequently and apply lotion generously to keep them moisturized. Dry and scaly skin isn’t very appealing even when it is hairless, so take care to keep them looking smooth and silky.
Speaking of shaving, when was the last time you shaved your armpits? Admit it. If it isn’t summer, you probably thought about it last week. You don’t think anyone looks there, do you? Think again. Imagine spinning around the dance floor in a sexy black dress. Your partner leads you into a spin. The hands go up in the air and wham; the armpits are in everyone’s line of vision. What did they see growing there? I have a friend named Eric that calls this, "The armpit check."
Wait. We aren’t done grooming yet. Let’s talk about them bows. No, not the ones in your hair; the elbows at the crook of your arm. Most ladies, who venture into the Salsa community, modify their wardrobe to fit their new lifestyle. The skirts get shorter. Many tops become sleeveless. All in all, more skin shows. When you look in the mirror, what do you see? Certainly not your elbows, so they are easy to ignore. But, when you are on that dance floor spinning around trying to look absolutely beautiful, you might be displaying some dry, cracked elbows. Gross.
The salsa lifestyle requires careful attention to grooming. Make sure to:
· Shave your legs more frequently
· Apply lotion generously to arms and legs
· Shave those armpits
