Lee and Christine Gedansky
Lee and Christine Gedansky have been training and dancing for over 17 years. They began studying dance in 1991, in preparation for their wedding and have been dancing ever since. After their wedding, they continued to study and practice dance as a pastime, competing in regional competitions between 1994 and 1997, receiving over a dozen gold and silver medals combined, as well a top student and showcase awards. In 1998, they left Arthur Murray studios to study and practice independently.
In addition to continuing their private instruction, have traveled to New York, Los Angeles, DC, and even New Orleans, to study and practice their dancing. In the summer of 2002, armed with 11 years of training and experience, and the idea of bringing social, ballroom, dancing to people through community based dance programs and special events, they decided to open their own company, and Beginning Ballroom, was born.
Beginning Ballroom offers group dance lessons through a variety of local community organizations, including health and fitness clubs, community centers, and continuing education programs; private dance lessons at our place or yours, and dance master
services for special events.
They have taught for many popular public events, such as: "After Hours" at the Walters Art Museum, LIVE!@Center Stage, Baltimore Museum of Art's 90th Birthday Bash, Naylor Wine Cellar's "Summer Sounds" Concert Series, Latin Night at the 13th Floor of the Belvedere, and Artscape 2004-09, opening for Poncho Sanchez, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Spanish Harlem Orchestra and Ozomotli as well as offering various dance workshops. In July 2009, Beginning Ballroom will celebrate its 7th year!
Beginning Ballroom has been featured in a variety of media, including film, television, radio and print. They have danced danced on big and small screens, appearing in Walt Disney's "Washington Square" in 1996, and on NBC’s The West Wing in 2003. Most recently, they have been featured in Baltimore Magazine, on the Fox 45 Morning Show, in the Owings Mills Times, and Brides Maryland Magazine!
