Am I overdressed?
Ladies, Mr. Right invites you out for a spectacular evening of dinner and salsa dancing. You pull a sexy dress out of your closet, adorn yourself with some shiny jewelry, paint your nails, throw on some heels, and wait patiently. Your man is awestruck by your beauty and compliments you all the way through dinner. You’re feeling extremely confident like you are on top of the world. Then, he takes you to a salsa club. You step into the room, look around, and uh oh, your confidence deflates in an instant. You want to run right back out the door.
What happened? Well, you suddenly feel overdressed and awkward. Everyone else is wearing jeans. Are they all staring at you? Yes, they are. Do they think you are a fool? Heck no. In fact, you look so hot; the guys can’t keep their eyes off you. Smile. Walk with confidence. This is your moment to shine. The person who has more of a reason to feel uncomfortable is your man. He had your complete attention at dinner, but now, he has to compete with all the other men in the room. You can never be overdressed for salsa dancing. Dress sexy, display confidence, and dance your heart out.
If you are indeed afraid of being overdressed, I promise that very soon, that fear will be out of your mind completely. One of the greatest rewards you’ll gain on your adventure in Salsa dancing is self-confidence. Until then, here a few pointers to help you dress for the clubs:
· Ask your date what people typically wear at the club he’s taking you to. Do they wear fancy dresses, nice skirts and blouses, or jeans and tank tops?
·Not going on a date? Then, call the club yourself and ask about the dress code. If you aren’t careful, you could be underdressed. Some clubs do not allow jeans, although that happens less frequently these days.
·If you are as scared as I was, scope the place out the week before you plan to go. I took my daughter and my friend for a ride to Latin Palace. We parked outside of the place and watched all the dancers go in. The next week, I knew what to wear.
